The story pattern:

1. YOU: The primats the dawn of man, Jupiter mission, Jupiter and beyond infinitive
2. NEED: The astronauts want to arrive to Jupiter
3. GO: The 400 operator became evil, it starts having sentiment that it wasn’t programmed to have.
4. SEARCH: as one of the astronauts is more intelligent than the operator 400  he gets to win the operator.
5. FIND: he almost dies.
6. TAKE: he had problems with the operator, he gets to desconect it.
7. RETURN:he arrives to Jupiter. life is a sycle, never ends.
8. CHANGE: he is a baby again, he is born.

Content analysis

This film was filmed in 1968 and it starts with a very typical scene that all of us know. This scene represents the evolution from man ape, how they start acting and using stones to survive. The film is divided like in 3 parts; the first one was this one, then the evolution into the future which involves humans creating artificial intelligence. HAL, the operator represents this evolution. And here it arrives to the problem, that in my opinion we will have it in the future, where the astronauts don’t have the full control of the machine, in this case the operator Hal. But finally the astronaut gets to win. In the end, he arrives to Jupiter and he starts living in a strange home, where he will live for years. It’s like a home of the future and he sees a monolito that appeared before and that’s the moment when he is born again.

Technical analysis

The first 20 minutes are mute so it can be a little bit boring. But I think that in this film the music is very important because it gives like an special sensation in each part. This film has won 4 awards, such as the Oscar of the best visual effects. About the filming, it seems to me that it is very well filmed, all the shoots are connected in each scene, for example in the space it gives like a sensation like if we were floating.

And also its incredible how not using dialogs there is a relation between humans and also the operator Hal.

Conclusion

In my opinion, this is a very typical films that anyone have to see it once in his life. I like the film, but it was a little bit long and sometimes boring because it had so many shoots with only music and I don’t like this type of relaxing scene because I get bored. But the film was well and in fact it makes you think about life and humans. I make many questions to myself like: why are we on earth? What is life?
