End of the second term

This term we have been doing different works about films and presentations. What I liked in this term was that I found it interesting because I like films and also series. It was funny and very entertaining. It seems to me that I have been doing a good job during this term but always is possible to do it better. Maybe my presentation could be better.

Storyboard

This is the storyboard made by our team (Irati, Irati, Aitziber and Aitana), for a short film about young people and fish. The story is about a girl that is in the kitchen having dinner with her mother and as she doesn't like the fish she has for dinner she gets punished. The punishment is to go to sleep without having dinner, and due to that fact, when she falls asleep, she has a nightmare. In the nightmare she's surrounded by fish and she wakes up panicking. In the end, she goes to the bathroom, as usual every morning, but when she looks herself in the mirror, she happens to have become a fish!!!
PITCH:
1.-A girl having dinner that doesn't like fish.
2.-She gets punished and has a nightmare.
3.- She becomes a fish

The idea of this video is to represent what songs lyrics says.
We have choosen the song called " Waiting for love " by Avicii.
Nowadays, it seems to us that love is a theme that everyone pass by. But sometimes love is hard and with this video we want to show a person who is in love with someone who doesn't belong to her.

We film this video around Antiguo, the main characters are June and Garazi, the couple and the filmer is Irati. We had such a good time recording it!

My favourite film : Chasing Mavericks

Chasing Mavericks

This american film was made in 2012 and was directed by Curtis Hanson and . The director of this film have also made more films like a love story called
" Lucky you".
I choose the film " Mavericks" because when I saw it for the fist time I was 10 years old and that was the year that I started doing surf at summer and for me this film was very representative and motivatif for the moment.

Plot

- The lifestyle of Jay.
- How he discovers the secret of the huge wave and how he gets to surf it.
-The trainning and the personal improve.

The Story pattern

1. YOU: A teenager lives near to the beach.

3. GO: he discovers de huge wave
   
4. SEARCH: he pulls his weight to reach his dream
   
5. FIND: he has to learn of his mistakes.

This film shows the story of a young boy, Jay Moriarty, who has issues at home so he discovers the surf and starts practicing. He has a neighbourd who keeps a secret and Jay discovers it. The secret has been keept for decades and now that Jay knows about it he wants to surf that amazing and incredible wave.  Jay surfs perfectly and Frosty knows but to surf a maverick he has to improve physically but also mentally. In fact, it shows how Jay gets to win his problems and reaches to surf that wave, called mavericks. The message of the film are more than one; trying and hard working is how we get thinks and also that you have to believe in yourself more than anyone else.
This is an inspiring film based on a real life of a boy called Jay so it talks about his life and it ends in the sadness that Moriarty dies at the age of 22 while doing what he loved: taking risks with the sea.

To sum up, it seems to me that it's a film that makes you think and in fact following  your dreams and how you can pull your weight to get thinks that you want, dream or need. In a way it makes you think that you are stronger and that with effort you would reach what you love.

During this christmas holiday, we have been filming a video of the heritage of our city. Like it was
Christmas, we though that it was a good idea to film our traditions in these days. The history of this film
is about a student who falls sleep in class and then she starts dreaming about Christmas holiday. For
this, we have been filming around our city in those important days. In the end, the student wakes up
and she realizes that she was in class and that all have been a beautiful dream.

A picture

Our teacher told us that we had to take a picture on the neighbourhood of the school.
I decided to take this picture because this is the street that I used to walk every day, and is very special for me as I had been walking around this street since I was a child.
When I took this picture I used some tips that we had already learnt at school. Such as  rule of thirds, leading lines and contrast. Since I thought the result was outstanding I thought it would be a good idea to take part in the contest, and I titled the picture:" Itzalik baina bizirik"

The pitch: The film revolves around the theme of revolution.

-The story follows the evolution of man from man ape

-Then, the evolution into the future, Jupiter mission.

- Finally, the arrive to Jupiter.

The story pattern:

1. YOU: The primats the dawn of man, Jupiter mission, Jupiter and beyond infinitive
2. NEED: The astronauts want to arrive to Jupiter
3. GO: The 400 operator became evil, it starts having sentiment that it wasn’t programmed to have.
4. SEARCH: as one of the astronauts is more intelligent than the operator 400  he gets to win the operator.
5. FIND: he almost dies.
6. TAKE: he had problems with the operator, he gets to desconect it.
7. RETURN:he arrives to Jupiter. life is a sycle, never ends.
8. CHANGE: he is a baby again, he is born.

Content analysis

This film was filmed in 1968 and it starts with a very typical scene that all of us know. This scene represents the evolution from man ape, how they start acting and using stones to survive. The film is divided like in 3 parts; the first one was this one, then the evolution into the future which involves humans creating artificial intelligence. HAL, the operator represents this evolution. And here it arrives to the problem, that in my opinion we will have it in the future, where the astronauts don’t have the full control of the machine, in this case the operator Hal. But finally the astronaut gets to win. In the end, he arrives to Jupiter and he starts living in a strange home, where he will live for years. It’s like a home of the future and he sees a monolito that appeared before and that’s the moment when he is born again.

Technical analysis

The first 20 minutes are mute so it can be a little bit boring. But I think that in this film the music is very important because it gives like an special sensation in each part. This film has won 4 awards, such as the Oscar of the best visual effects. About the filming, it seems to me that it is very well filmed, all the shoots are connected in each scene, for example in the space it gives like a sensation like if we were floating.

And also its incredible how not using dialogs there is a relation between humans and also the operator Hal.

Conclusion

In my opinion, this is a very typical films that anyone have to see it once in his life. I like the film, but it was a little bit long and sometimes boring because it had so many shoots with only music and I don’t like this type of relaxing scene because I get bored. But the film was well and in fact it makes you think about life and humans. I make many questions to myself like: why are we on earth? What is life?
